Tzedakah Project with Pitchon-Lev

About Tzedakah Project

JCC Maccabi is about much more than sport competition. Guided by our 6 official JCC Maccabi midot (values), especially Tikkun Olam, repairing the world, every JCC Maccabi athlete and coach is invited to participate in a Tzedakah project, an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others who may be less fortunate than ourselves. For our Tzedakah Project in Israel, we are partnering with Pitchon-Lev, a leading Israeli humanitarian organization working to break the intergenerational cycle of poverty. Pitchon-Lev has Humanitarian Aid Centers all over Israel where aid recipients receive clothes, food parcels, and necessary items for the home. These aid recipients include immigrants and refugees from Ukraine and Ethiopia, where they escaped conflict and war. We are asking that each teen bring either a stuffed animal and/or new or gently used and in good condition team branded sport clothing to contribute. These can be JCC Maccabi delegation items or professional sport team items. When arriving in the JCC Maccabi Villages, there will be boxes for you to put your donation items in.

About Pitchon-Lev

  • Pitchon-Lev is an apolitical, not-for-profit national humanitarian organization focused on breaking the intergenerational cycle of poverty in Israel. Established in 1998, the organization directly assists more than 160,000 individuals and families every year, regardless of their gender, religion, race, or nationality. Pitchon-Lev is supported by corporate and individual philanthropy in Israel and by more than 15,000 volunteers annually.

What You Need to Bring

  • In the spirit of sportsmanship, and the Maccabi values to foster a long-term connection with the Jewish People and Israel, we invite you to bring with you to Israel additional team-branded sports clothes and puppets (stuffed animals) which will be collected and donated to those less fortunate in Israel. These include new immigrants and sought refugees in Israel from conflict and war zones such as Ukraine and Ethiopia.

Where to Drop Your Donations

  • The lobby of each host village will be the collection point for donations for Pitchon-Lev. Look for the sign that includes the JCC Maccabi Games logo and the Pitchon-Lev logo.
